World mar­ket lea­der 2020

Place in the ran­king of the Uni­ver­si­ty of St. Gal­len secured

Klasmann-Deilmann is lis­ted as world mar­ket lea­der for the third time in suc­ces­si­on. After 2018 and 2019, we are also the „cham­pion” of the sub­stra­te indus­try for the year 2020 in the ran­king of the Uni­ver­si­ty of St. Gal­len, Hen­ri B. Mei­er Entre­pre­neurs School and the Aca­de­my of Ger­man World Mar­ket Leaders.

In its issue of 14 Octo­ber 2019, the maga­zi­ne „Wirt­schafts­wo­che” reports in detail on around 500 com­pa­nies from Ger­ma­ny, Aus­tria and Switz­er­land (so cal­led DACH regi­on) that have deve­lo­ped into the worl­d’s lea­ding com­pa­nies in their respec­ti­ve mar­ket seg­ments. The spec­trum ran­ges from major glo­bal play­ers such as Volks­wa­gen with sales of over EUR 236 bil­li­on to smal­ler com­pa­nies such as Ama­pharm, which gene­ra­tes annu­al sales of EUR 50 mil­li­on with healt­hy fruit gums.

Howe­ver, a com­pany’s repu­ta­ti­on and size do not play a signi­fi­cant role in the list. For as a world mar­ket lea­der, it is more important who meets the­se criteria:

  • A world mar­ket lea­der is No. 1 or at least No. 2 in one of its own busi­ness are­as. At Klasmann-Deilmann, this is the busi­ness seg­ment of gro­wing media.
  • The annu­al tur­no­ver must be at least EUR 50 mil­li­on. Klasmann-Deilmann gene­ra­ted EUR 220 mil­li­on last year.
  • At least half of the annu­al tur­no­ver must be gene­ra­ted abroad on at least three con­ti­nents. We have an export share of over 80% and are acti­ve on all continents.
  • At least 50% of the com­pany’s owners are loca­ted in the DACH regi­on. This app­lies 100% both to our share­hol­ders and to Klasmann-Deilmann itself.

Around 1,500 poten­ti­al can­di­da­tes from the DACH regi­on were clo­se­ly scru­ti­ni­s­ed for the stu­dy. A third of them met the ran­king cri­te­ria and can now call them­sel­ves „world mar­ket leaders”.
