Science makes true what was considered magic. | Don’t we all dream of a world that is perfectly balanced, in which we give back as much as we take, and in which we have no negative impact on the climate? A world where everyone has access to healthy food and can live a wonderful life in a healthy, green environment? It seems like an illusion… Is it?
High-tech horticulture once started as a dream: with a desire to grow in a more efficient and controlled way, as circular and sustainable as possible. Research, science and innovation made what we thought was magic a reality. Our dream to make a relevant contribution to this resulted in a revolutionary substrate, perfectly tailored to the requirements of high-tech horticulture. And we call it Nygaia.
In Las Vegas, we would like to give you an insight and take you on a journey. To the magical world of Nygaia: the future of cultivation. Be amazed…

The latest product update: an odor-free plug
Some found it smelling like a crackling fire, others recognized the smell of decomposing wood. It was certain that the Nygaia plug had a distinct smell. And whether you liked it or not, the smell was unmistakable.
But this is now a thing of the past. Because our developers have updated the product. From now on, Nygaia plugs will pass as odorless. So do you want to evoke the coziness of a fireplace? Then you really should light one yourself.
Another valuable discovery from the development team: Nygaia out of the tray, into the potting soil!
Nygaia’s R&D team is clearly not sitting still. Nygaia has been extensively tested in different crops and systems for some time now. But its interfering with other substrates is also being extensively tested. Why is this important, you might ask? Well, in the more regular cultivation systems (tray > potting), we want to be able to transplant plugs to larger pot sizes, of course.
In most cases, a pot is filled with loose substrate, such as potting soil. And because we also see a lot of potential in the application of Nygaia plugs in young plant propagation trays, we wanted to take a closer look at the transition from tray to pot, to map this process accurately, and to further develop the product accordingly. The result? These strawberry plants, grown on Nygaia, are now growing unhindered in the potting soil! Promising right?
Our dream of decentral production is about to come to live at GreenTech Amsterdam
Especially within high-tech horticulture, there is a growing demand for steerable, but sustainable substrates. Nygaia is the answer to this. And it is taking on ever more distinct forms. Wondering how we are shaping this process? A great scoop awaits you at GreenTech Amsterdam from 11 – 13 June 2024! Keep your eyes open!
