Solutions for climate-friendly horticulture

Klasmann-Deilmann is presenting innovations for sustainable horticulture at GreenTech in Amsterdam. Under the theme ‘Three steps to climate-friendly horticulture’, the company will be presenting forward-looking solutions for horticultural businesses that want to make their processes more environmentally friendly, more efficient and more economically successful in the long term.

‘Horticulture is facing great challenges – we have the right solutions,’ says Managing Director Moritz Böcking. ’Our new products make a significant contribution to more sustainable cultivation while ensuring maximum yields. GreenTech 2025 is the ideal platform for growers and us to drive this change forward together.’

The focus is on innovations that pave the way for climate-neutral horticulture:

TerraCoal® – biochar reimagined

TerraCoal is a structurally stable biochar that improves substrate mixes in terms of ecology and plant growth. The sustainable raw material has a high carbon binding capacity and, as a CO₂ sink, contributes to climate-neutral plant production. It also activates soil life, provides air capacity and buffers nutrients.

ADVANCED substrates – highest quality with renewable raw materials

Another highlight is the peat-reduced and peat-free ADVANCED substrates. The use of alternative substrate raw materials reduces the CO2 emissions of these formulations by up to 80%. The mixtures combine the positive properties of different raw materials and support crop management through balanced water holding capacity, optimised air permeability and excellent root development.

TerraCoal will also play an important role in these substrates in the future: ‘In practical trials, our formulations with TerraCoal show reliably high crop performance,’ says Moritz Böcking. ‘TerraCoal thus harmonises ecological requirements and professional quality.’

Growbag ADVANCED – the sustainable growbag generation

Specially developed for growing vegetables and strawberries, the Growbag ADVANCED combines maximum crop performance with environmentally friendly materials. The wood-based GreenFibre mix is produced in Northern Germany and is readily available all year round. The mix promotes strong and healthy root growth, simplifies irrigation control and significantly reduces emissions. ‘With the Growbag, we offer an innovative product solution with excellent ecological parameters and high yield security for vegetables and strawberries,’ explains Moritz Böcking. ‘Our Growbag concept, based on regional, organic recycled raw materials, contributes to a more sustainable horticulture.’

Log&Solve – innovative crop monitoring and sensor technology

The proven online platform Log&Solve is now being further developed by the company 30MHz. The web-based tool enables digital crop monitoring: based on measurement data, growers can control their crop success even more precisely. The system is particularly useful for adjusting fertilisation and irrigation when using peat-reduced substrates. 30MHz also offers sensor systems that can be used in conjunction with Log&Solve.

Growcoon – now with a new dispenser for easy handling

The proven Growcoon system for young plant cultivation is being expanded with new dispensers. In collaboration with Maan Horti Automation from the Netherlands, automatic and manual dispensers have been developed that simplify the use of Growcoon in the cultivation process and further increase efficiency in cultivation. The 100% biodegradable Growcoon is a powerful solution for healthy roots, faster plant development and shorter cultivation times.

The range is complemented by the Nygaia substrate fibre, which is also biodegradable. This completely new polymer-based growing medium is an ideal product solution for high-tech applications in hydroponic cultivation.

We cordially invite all interested parties to visit us from 10 to 12 June 2025 at GreenTech in Amsterdam, stand 05.205, and experience our innovations live.
