Rootixx has been developed to address these requirements. This innovative, patented hydrogel forms a homogeneous propagation medium with high cohesiveness. It creates strong root balls for reliable machine handling and promotes rapid, uniform plant growth, ensuring efficient integration into modern propagation processes.
Rootixx is based on biopolymer technology and represents a new approach to young plant production. It is currently being further developed and tested by our R&D team in collaboration with professional growers.
A new approach to propagation substrates
Produce what you need, when you need it
Rootixx transforms the way propagation substrates are supplied and prepared. Rather than transporting ready-to-use growing media in bulk or pre-formed plugs, only the dry ingredients are delivered to the nursery, where the growing medium can be prepared as a dispensable gel. Only water is added on site during preparation, enabling the gel-based growing medium to be produced exactly when needed.
The gel’s rapid binding process creates a stable propagation plug directly after tray filling, even before the roots have penetrated the growing medium. This new approach to propagation offers flexible production at the nursery, reduced transport volumes for the propagation substrate, and direct integration into professional cultivation processes.

Yes, Rootixx is compatible with overhead, high-frequency misting systems.
Yes! Because it is dispensed as a liquid slurry before solidifying, Rootixx can be custom formed into virtually any tray cavity size or geometry, ranging from high-density microgreen formats or mats to jumbo commercial plugs (8 cc to 50+ cc).
Rootixx is designed for integration into automated tray-filling, seeding and sticking processes. Depending on the nursery set-up and application, suitable dispensing solutions can be developed together with the grower. An automated Rootixx dispensing system is currently under development.
