Our financial results for 2017
In the 2017 financial year we achieved sales revenue of EUR 204.2 million (previous year: EUR 185.6 million). The Klasmann-Deilmann Group’s year-end balance sheet total was EUR 192,6 million. Our equity capital increased by EUR 6.3 million year-on-year to EUR 86.7 million.
Our production quantities in 2017
Our production of growing media for commercial horticulture and the consumer segment increased to 3.692 million m³ in 2017 (previous year: 3.549 million m³). The amount of raw peat materials extracted decreased to 3.290 million m³. The fabrication of wood fibre rose to 213,000 m³ (2016: 162.00 m³). The production of green compost decreased to 92,000 m³ (2016: to 101,000 m³).
Our short-rotation forestry plantations in 2017
The total area allocated to the creation of short-rotation forestry (SRF) plantations increased to a total of 3,692 hectares in the 2017 financial year (previous year: 3,131 ha). Of this, some 2,897 hectares were under active management as at year’s end.
Our workforce in 2017
In 2017 we had an employee headcount of 988 (2016: 996). Of these, 397 were employed in the employee and 591 in the commercial sector. 64.7 per cent of the employment contracts were outside Germany in the year under review (previous year: 64.4 per cent).
Our logistics operations in 2017
Klasmann-Deilmann supplies customers with growing media in over 70 countries on five continents. Our logistics operations are therefore of crucial importance. In 2017, we used around 40,000 trucks, 2,300 railway cars, 100 barges/ships and 8,800 containers to transport our products.
Managing directors and shareholders
The Managing Directors of Klasmann-Deilmann GmbH are Moritz Böcking (since 2011) and Bernd Wehming (since 2018). Our shareholders are the Bad Bentheim-based company Deilmann-Montan GmbH, with a stakeholding of 57.5%, and the Meppen-based firm Klasmann Anlage- und Verwaltungs GmbH & Co. KG, which holds a 42.5% interest. The Chair of the Administrative Board is Carl-Gerrit Deilmann (since 2007).
