New sales partner in Portugal

 

As of 1 January 2025, we have a new sales partner in Portugal. “Biochem” takes over from our longtime partner “Vieira”, who will retire and cease their business operations. The Biochem team is led by Bork Jusek and consists of several experienced horticulturists. They are very familiar with growing media, but also sell plastic pots and fertilizers.

The Biochem team has now been invited to Klasmann-Deilmann’s headquarters for an inaugural visit and comprehensive training by Jan Frankemölle. The distribution agreement, as usual based on mutual exclusivity, was also signed during this visit.

Portugal may be one of the smaller horticultural markets in Europe, but there is an interesting diversity there. There are smaller companies in the north growing a wide range of crops and some larger producers of ornamental plants and soft fruits in the south. Some of them are linked to German or Dutch growers, who take advantage of the climatic benefits of the locations in Portugal to be able to supply themselves with goods right at the start of the season.

By joining forces between the leading distributor in Portugal and the number one brand in professional growing media, we expect to reach an even stronger presence in the Portuguese market for Klasmann-Deilmann.
