Our financial results for 2015
In the 2015 financial year we achieved sales revenue of EUR 176.9 million (previous year: EUR 165.0 million). The Klasmann-Deilmann Group’s year-end balance sheet total was EUR 176 million. Our equity capital increased by EUR 7.8 million year-on-year to EUR 75.0 million.
Our production quantities in 2015
Our production of growing media for commercial horticulture and the consumer segment increased to 3.401 million m³ in 2015 (previous year: 3.324 million m³). The amount of raw peat materials extracted decreased to 3.168 million m³, whereas the quantity of both wood fibre (138,000 m³ as opposed to 99,000 m³ in 2014) and green compost (up from 89,000 m³ to 96,000 m³ in 2015) rose year-on-year.
Our short-rotation forestry plantations in 2015
The total area allocated to the creation of short-rotation forestry (SRF) plantations increased to a total of 2,927 hectares in the 2015 financial year (previous year: 2,664 ha). Of this, some 1,800 hectares were under active management as at year’s end.
Our workforce in 2015
In 2015 we had an employee headcount of 937 (2014: 948). Of these, 898 were in full-time employment (2014: 903) and 848 had open-ended contracts (2014: 852). Our workforce included 376 employees in administration (2014: 416) and 561 in technical/industrial activities (2014: 532). The breakdown by sex was as follows: 754 males (2014: 768) and 183 females (2014: 180).
Our logistics operations in 2015
Klasmann-Deilmann supplies customers with growing media in over 70 countries on five continents. Our logistics operations are therefore of crucial importance. In 2015, we used around 40,000 trucks, 2,300 railway cars, 100 barges/ships and 8,800 containers to transport our products.
Managing directors and shareholders
The Managing Directors of Klasmann-Deilmann GmbH are Norbert Siebels (since 1990) and Moritz Böcking (since 2011). Our shareholders are the Bad Bentheim-based company Deilmann-Montan GmbH, with a stakeholding of 57.5%, and the Meppen-based firm Klasmann Anlage- und Verwaltungs GmbH & Co. KG, which holds a 42.5% interest. The Chair of the Administrative Board is Carl-Gerrit Deilmann (since 2007).
